The Football Association of Uzbekistan (UFA) has announced the arrival of Fabio Cannavaro, a candidate for the head coach of the national football team, with his coaching staff in Tashkent. The Italian specialist is expected to be officially introduced today.
According to UFA sources, Cannavaro will replace Timur Kapadze, who has been managing the team since February 2025, and will prepare the "White Wolves" for the 2026 World Cup. At the same time, it is said that Kapadze may be included in the new headquarters in order to maintain continuity.
The details of the official contract were not disclosed, but Russian media reported that the salary of the 52-year-old specialist, including the expenses of the coaching staff, will be around 4 million euros per year. Although this figure has not yet been confirmed, it indicates that large investments are being made in the Cannavaro project.
Cannavaro's immediate responsibilities include inspecting the team's infrastructure, meeting with the players, determining the staff distribution, and developing a plan for the upcoming training camp and friendly matches. The main goal is clear: to turn a historic ticket into a worthy participation, to conduct each pre-competition month of the national team with maximum effectiveness.
