Manchester City's experienced central defender, John Stones, openly admitted that the last season had been very difficult for him, and he even wanted to hang the whole boot on the nail. He stated that continuous injuries, prolonged recovery, and difficulties returning to the field put him under intense psychological pressure.
Stones stated that as a professional athlete, he adhered to all the rules, controlled the workload and diet, but nevertheless, failures followed one after another. "It's even harder if you don't understand why this is happening. You think you're doing everything right, but when a problem arises anyway - your spirit breaks. "I hope that this will not happen again," he noted.
The 31-year-old defender was formed in the Barnsley system and moved to Everton in 2013. In 2016, "City" acquired him for 55.6 million euros, and under Pep Guardiola, he went to the championships, national cups, and international trophies. His contract runs until the summer of 2026, however, questions about his upcoming seasons at the club remain open.
The fans are hopeful that Stones will return to the field with a healthy squad and demonstrate his unique and consistent play in the new phase following this psychological and physical challenge.
