Uzbekistan national team striker Igor Sergeev shared his thoughts ahead of the upcoming match against Uruguay. He spoke about the trip, the weather, and his impressions of the opponent.
“The journey was long, the flight wasn’t easy, but the main thing is that we arrived and settled in. We’ve already had our first training session. Now our full focus is on the match against Uruguay,” he said.
According to Sergeev, it’s wrong to separate the opponent into “main” or “second” squad:
“Uruguay’s young players are also high-level footballers. They are fighting for their place and trying to prove themselves. That’s why every player has great motivation and energy. We must first focus on our own preparation, study the opponent through video analysis, and approach the match properly.”
The striker also commented on the climate:
“It’s hot and humid here. I’ve played in Thailand, so I’m used to this climate. The current weather is fine — I’ve played in even hotter conditions. It’s not difficult for me, but I’m not sure how it will affect the other guys.”
Sergeev concluded by saying that the team’s preparation is going well and promised to give his all on the pitch.
