Uzbekistan national team goalkeeper Abduvohid Ne’matov shared his thoughts with journalists after the friendly match against Uruguay.
“Today we played against a very strong opponent. We tried to follow the new coach’s instructions. The defeat was painful, but I think there might have been an offside in the first goal. In the second, we made a small defensive mistake. Even after conceding, we didn’t lose spirit — we came back into the game and managed to score,” said Ne’matov after the match.
According to the goalkeeper, he no longer focuses on past mistakes and only thinks about future results.
“I don’t dwell on my previous mistakes — they’re behind me now. I need to look ahead and focus on achieving better results in the next games,” he said.
Abduvohid also emphasized the responsibility of guarding the national team’s goal.
“Playing in this position after Utkir aka Yusupov is not easy. He’s a very experienced goalkeeper. I wish him a quick recovery. But for every player, representing their country is a great honor. No matter the position, everyone must give their all for the pride of the national team,” Ne’matov added.
From the goalkeeper’s sincere words, the sense of unity and responsibility within the team was clearly visible. According to Ne’matov, every defeat brings experience and growth, and today’s match was an important step toward future success.
