Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola spoke about defender John Stones’ health issues. The Spanish specialist expressed hope that the player’s injury problems are now behind him.
“I hope his injury troubles are over. Will his contract expire in the summer? Don’t ask me about that — the club management decides. During the season when we won the treble, John played brilliantly, but since then he hasn’t been able to gain consistent match fitness. For now, we’ll wait and see how the situation develops,” said Guardiola.
For reference, John Stones has been playing for Manchester City since 2016. The 31-year-old defender has appeared in only six matches across all competitions this season and has not registered any goal contributions.
According to Guardiola, the defender still needs time to regain full form. “Stones is a very strong player, and if he stays fit, our team will become even stronger. The main thing now is his complete recovery,” the coach added.
Fans are hoping the defender will soon return to action and strengthen City’s defensive line.
