Kayrat played with more players, but could not score against Pafos
Kazakhstan's Kayrat team hosted Cyprus's Pafos club in the third round of the UEFA Champions League. The match took place on July 10, 2024, at the Central Stadium in Almaty.

The game ended with a score of 0:0, and Kayrat earned its first point in the competition, while Pafos got its second point. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

Already in the fourth minute of the match, Pafos player Joao Correa received a red card. When he attempted to strike the ball in the center of the field, he kicked his opponent Luis Matche in the head.

The opponents gained a numerical advantage, but Kayrat could not capitalize on it. In the first half, Pafos striker Domingos Quina came one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but his shot was saved by the Kayrat keeper.

In the second half, Mislav Orsic and David Luiz created dangerous opportunities, but each time the goalkeepers protected their nets. Kayrat player Georgiy Zaria also took a powerful shot from 13 meters, but again the goalkeeper made the save.

Several more dangerous moments arose in the game. Pafos player Vlad Dragomir unleashed a powerful shot, the ball hit the goalpost and rebounded off the goalkeeper, but the referee did not count the goal because of offside.

Ofri Arad and Dastan Satpaev also failed to take advantage of their chances. As a result of the match, Kayrat earned its first point in the Champions League.

Pafos, meanwhile, claimed its second point of the tournament. The teams will continue to fight for victory in the next round.
