The La Liga match between Villarreal and Barcelona, scheduled for December, has been canceled in Miami. La Liga organizers refused to host the match in the US due to negative reactions in Spain.
Barcelona has stated that it has accepted this decision with respect. The club's official statement also stated that it respected the decision made earlier to hold the match in the US. Barcelona expressed regret for missing out on this opportunity.
Club representatives noted that a good opportunity to develop the La Liga brand in a strategic market has been lost. Fans in the USA also expressed regret that they could not watch the team live.
Previously, Real Madrid and several other clubs opposed holding the match in the US. Therefore, the organizers were forced to change the meeting location.
