However, the visitors responded quickly on a counterattack, and Jacob Murphy scored from outside the penalty area to open the score – 0:1. In the 35th minute, the hosts' goalkeeper caught the ball, then Mateusz Fernandes played with Lucas Paqueta and struck accurately from 20 meters – 1:1.
In the 50th minute, Sven Botman's own goal put "West Ham" ahead – 2:1. At the end of the match, Bowen missed another chance, but Tomas Soucek managed to send the ball into the net – 3:1.
Despite this being their second victory of the season, "West Ham" remains in the relegation zone (18th place), while "Newcastle" is in 13th place.
