Olympic sprint champion and current State Duma deputy of Russia Svetlana Zhurova commented on the possibility of lifting the ban on Russian football. FIFA and UEFA are reportedly considering allowing the Russian women's national team to participate in the qualifying round of the 2027 Women's World Cup.

This decision serves to analyze the reactions of other countries. "Possibly, the women's national team or youth teams may be allowed to participate.

But we know well that last time the reaction of other countries was not very positive. No one wants to take the risk," Zhurova said in an interview with Sovetskiy Sport.
