Benfica head coach Jose Mourinho shared his thoughts after the Champions League match against Bayer in Leverkusen (0:1). In the match in Lisbon, the visitors secured victory in the 65th minute thanks to a precise strike by Patrik Schick.
“Benfica did everything but just couldn’t do one thing – score a goal. The best team lost.
This was the only team that created real chances. We played fantastic football, but to win you have to score goals.
The players sent shots at the goalkeeper, hit the post and even shot off the field – this affected the result in the end. I believe in our future.
We need to keep playing like we did today, and then victories won’t be long in coming. In a game like this, we would win 9 out of 10 times,” Mourinho said in his interview with UEFA's press service.
