Italy's national team head coach Gennaro Gattuso explained the reasons behind the crisis in Italian football. According to him, Italian football, which was considered one of the most advanced football systems in the world in the late 20th century, is currently facing several challenges.
"Football in the English Premier League (EPL) is completely different, mainly due to the immense financial investments. However, in Italy, we have very skilled and experienced coaches.
In Serie A, achieving good results without showing creativity is very difficult. But in the leading Serie A teams, there are only 1-2 players whom I, as a coach, would like to observe and consider worthy.
In my opinion, that is the problem," Gattuso said in an interview with pianetamilan.it. It should be noted that Gennaro Gattuso was appointed head coach of the Italian national team in June 2025.
