
The 6th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, are nearing their conclusion. The final days of the competition have been marked by intense and dramatic futsal matches. The Uzbekistan national team faced the host nation, Saudi Arabia, in a battle for the bronze medal and secured victory in a thrilling encounter.
The match started at an exceptionally fast pace right from the first minutes. Both teams attempted to control the game with active pressing and swift attacks. Midway through the first half, Saudi player Nawaf Mubarak Arwan opened the scoring — 1:0. However, this lead did not last long, as just a minute later, Elbek Tolqinov equalized for Uzbekistan, making it 1:1.
The intensity on the field only escalated afterwards. Both teams fought hard for a win, but the score remained unchanged during regular time. The penalty shootout proved decisive for Uzbekistan — the national team triumphed with a 6:5 victory, claiming the tournament’s bronze medal.
This victory not only showcased the team's professional skill but also their resilience and unity. After the match, head coach Islombek Ismoilov expressed pride in his players:
“This result is the fruit of dedication and hard work. We were strong not just in gameplay but also mentally. We fought for the trust of our supporters, and this bronze medal is as valuable as gold to us,” said the coach.

Shavkat Ibragimov (goalkeeper), Ikhtiyor Ropiyev, Ilhom Hamroyev, Elbek Tolqinov, and Shahram Fakhriddinov. On the bench were Abbos Elmurodov, Abror Akhmetzyanov, Mashrab Odilov, Shahzod Sadiyev, Akbar Usmonov, Khayrullo Solikhov, Muzaffar Akhadjonov, Eldor Nigmatov, and Muhammadali Husanboyev.
At the conclusion of the game, Uzbekistan's delegation members and players were honored in a ceremonial award presentation. The players proudly carried the national flag and paraded in front of their supporters.
