Argentinian world star Lionel Messi recently openly shared his feelings and personal dreams about Barcelona in an exclusive interview with Sport. According to him, the decision to leave the Catalan club was very difficult for him, and he still lives longing for the past.
"I was confident that I would spend my entire career at Barcelona. This club was a part of my life. I grew up in this team since childhood, every moment, every competition has been a source of pride for me," Messi said.
The football star emphasized that his departure was a difficult decision not only for him personally but also for his family. "After he left, we had a strange void. We miss Barcelona very much. My children still remember the life there and ask, "Shall we return?" My wife Antonella and I talk a lot about this. We have a house there, and most of our lives have been spent in this city. Therefore, the idea of returning there still lives in our hearts," Messi added.
As is known, Lionel Messi left Barcelona in the summer of 2021 for financial reasons and joined Paris Saint-Germain. However, according to the Argentinian, this decision was mandatory: "I didn't want to leave. Everything depended on the contract issue and the club's financial situation. Therefore, we had no other choice."
Messi also specifically addressed Barcelona fans: "I will never forget their love and support. Fans in Catalonia have always been like family to me. My connection and love with them continues to this day."
