Uzbekistan breaks Egypt's 8-month unbeaten streak

Another historic match took place today at the Al Ain Cup. The Uzbekistan national team played against such an experienced and high-level opponent as Egypt and achieved a convincing victory thanks to a worthy game. With this success, Italian specialist Fabio Cannavaro's team not only qualified for the final but also put an end to the long-running undefeated streak for Egypt.

As is known, the Egyptian national team, led by Hassan Hassan, has not lost a single match in the last eight months. Their last defeat was recorded on March 27 in a friendly match against Croatia (2:4). In the subsequent 14 matches, the team led by Salah won 10 times and drew only 4 times.

But today everything has changed. The Uzbekistan national team stood out on the battlefield with its physical preparedness, tactical discipline, and willpower. Especially, our team, which increased pressure at the beginning of the game, put the opponent in a difficult position and took the lead with important goals. Despite Egypt's experience, strong squad, and experience in major tournaments, they were unable to turn the game in their favor this time.

Of course, Egypt's defeat doesn't negate their consistent year-round performance. They qualified for the 2026 World Cup and are among the leading teams of the African continent. But today all attention was focused on Uzbekistan - the team once again demonstrated that it can speak its mind.

Now Cannavaro's men will play against Iran in the final. Egypt will compete against Cape Verde for 3rd place.

Uzbekistan's victory gave fans new hope and the team new confidence. We believe that after this victory, our national team will strive for even higher goals.
