Recognizing the Armenian's grand form, Nakamura emphasized that, despite this, Yakubboev's agile, brave, and attacking playing style keeps the opponent in an unexpected position. In his opinion, Yakubboyev can dominate all time controls - which makes him a favorite.
The remaining pairs were also promptly commented on. According to Nakamura:
- In the Harikrishna vs. Jose match, Harikrishna plays with high confidence in the main time, but the tie-break is level - 50/50.
- In the Le Kuan Liem vs. Donchenko match, Vietnam's Liem has a significant advantage.
- In the Dubov-Shenkland duel, the Russian creator Dubov has a serious advantage, especially in fast-paced matches.
- In the Grebnev - Esipenko match, he wasn't the favorite, but he emphasized that Grebnev could win as an outsider.
- In the Wei Yi - Sevyan match, American Sevyan's chances were highly appreciated.
- The Aronyan-Erigaisi clash is close to equality, but it was noted that Aronyan is one step ahead in terms of experience and pressure management.
These predictions by Nakamura once again demonstrated his deep sense of chess, high-level analysis of each player's psychology and playing style. Most importantly, these matches make the World Cup surprises even more exciting.
