Kosovo National Team Advances to Playoffs

The Kosovo national football team achieved a crucial victory in the World Cup qualification stage, securing their place in the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Slovenian national team faced disappointment in the qualifiers, failing to win in five matches.

Slovenia squandered their chance to contend for the second spot in the group after a home defeat to Albania. In the 6th minute, Fisnik Asllani received a pass from Mergim Vojvoda inside the penalty area, outmaneuvered Vanja Drkushich, and struck the ball into the far corner – 0:1.

Slovenia's Jan Karnichnik made a pass that set up Jan Vipotnik's attempt, but the shot went wide of the right post. Tomi Horvat's long-range strike was spectacularly saved by Kosovo's goalkeeper.

In the second half, Slovenian forward Petar Stoyanovich entered the game but received two yellow cards within just eight minutes, leaving his team in a challenging position. Floran Muslija broke through for a one-on-one with the goalkeeper but saw his shot deflected away from the net.

In the 64th minute, Muslija delivered a cross from the left side into the penalty area. Jan Karnichnik's attempt to clear the ball failed, deflecting off the post and into the net – 0:2.

The Kosovo national team, almost certainly, secured the second spot in the group, earning a playoff berth. Slovenia, on the other hand, will continue competing for the third position in the group.

Match result: Slovenia 0:2 Kosovo. Goals: Fisnik Asllani (6'), Jan Karnichnik (64' own goal).
