Ponomaryov Predicts Karpin Will Lead National Team to Downfall


Former CSKA Moscow footballer Vladimir Ponomaryov expressed critical opinions about Russia's national team head coach Valery Karpin. On Monday, November 17, the 56-year-old coach resigned from Dynamo Moscow.

"There are some coaches who don’t understand anything, yet they don’t admit it. Karpin doesn’t admit it either.

Now, he is inevitably dragging the national team down," Ponomaryov’s words were quoted by "Sport-Express." Russia's national team recently played a BetBoom friendly match against Chile at the "Fisht" Stadium in Sochi.

Karpin’s squad suffered a 0–2 defeat in that game.
