Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) right-back Achraf Hakimi was recognized as Africa's best footballer of 2025. The Moroccan player won the final voting against Liverpool's Egyptian representative Mohamed Salah and Galatasaray's Nigerian star Victor Osimhen.
Interestingly, Hakimi had finished in second place behind Ademola Lookman in 2024 and Victor Osimhen in 2023. The PSG captain became the first Moroccan player in 27 years to win this award.
During the 2024/25 season, Achraf Hakimi helped the Parisian team secure their first-ever UEFA Champions League title. Under the leadership of Luis Enrique, PSG triumphed in all domestic competitions and reached the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.
