Shalimov Announces Russia’s Main Goalkeeper

Renowned coach Igor Shalimov shared his thoughts on the Russian national team's goalkeeper position. Previously, the Russian national team’s goalkeeper coach Vitaliy Kafanov had emphasized that Matvey Safonov is the primary goalkeeper.

In an interview with "RB Sport," Shalimov stated: "If it had been an official match, Agkatsev would be in goal, as Valeriy Karpin also hinted at after the game against Peru." According to the specialist, match practice is crucial for goalkeepers, and it was precisely due to this lack of practice that Safonov made an error during the Peru game.

In November, the Russian national team played two BetBoom matches, but Valeriy Karpin's squad failed to secure any victories. Initially, there was a draw against Peru (1:1), followed by a defeat (0:2) in the game against Chile.
