U-17 Goalkeeper Rustamjonov Talks About World Cup Lessons

U-17 goalkeeper Rustamjonov speaks about lessons from the World Cup

The talented young goalkeeper of Uzbekistan’s U-17 national team, Ne’matulloh Rustamjonov, openly shared his thoughts on participating in the youth World Cup, the team’s emotions, and his personal impressions. According to him, although the results did not meet expectations, the team fought hard, gave their utmost effort on the field, and was just slightly unlucky in decisive moments.

The goalkeeper noted that European teams have a considerable physical advantage, but the most significant difference lies in their level of tactical thinking. Acknowledging this, Rustamjonov believes that this experience will serve as a valuable stepping stone for the growth of Uzbekistan’s players.

“This tournament opened great opportunities for us,” he said. “The World Cup is not just a competition; it’s also a vast market. I’m confident that many of my teammates will join European clubs in the coming years. These games have been a tremendous lesson and a new direction for all of us.”

The goalkeeper specifically recalled the match against Croatia. He mentioned that there hadn’t been an opportunity to deeply analyze the penalty-taking patterns of opposing players before the match. Therefore, during the game, he tried to engage with the opponents and apply psychological pressure to unsettle them.

In Ne’matulloh’s opinion, every game, every situation, and every mistake serves as a foundation for future growth. He firmly believes that such tournaments play a critical role in shaping young players’ character, determination, and competitive spirit.

The young goalkeeper concluded his remarks with, “We have returned, but with our heads held high. This is just the beginning of the journey. Our players are capable of competing in Europe. What’s needed is hard work, perseverance, and confidence in ourselves.”
