Former Italian goalkeeper Buffon has died at the age of 96

Lorenzo Buffon, the former goalkeeper of the Italian national team, AC Milan, and Inter Milan, has died of a heart attack at the age of 96. This was reported by Quotidiano Sportivo.

He was the cousin of the famous goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon's grandfather. Lorenzo Buffon died less than a month before his next birthday.

AC Milan and Inter Milan have published commemorative posts in Buffon's memory on their official websites and social media. He played for AC Milan from 1949 to 1959, and for Inter Milan from 1960 to 1963.

During his career, he won the Italian championship 5 times and the Latin Cup 1 time. He made 15 appearances for the Italian national team, conceding 17 goals.

After retiring from playing, Lorenzo coached several small teams. He also worked as a scout for AC Milan.
