Barcelona head coach Hans-Dieter Flick, commenting on the heavy defeat to Chelsea (0-3) in the 5th round of the Champions League, openly acknowledged the team's mistakes and problems. He noted that the chances at the beginning of the game were not converted into goals, and later the one-man deficit put a lot of pressure on the team.
"We had a good opportunity to open the scoring, but we couldn't convert it. Failure to capitalize on such an opportunity at this stage gives the opponent a significant advantage. After Araujo was sent off, the situation worsened - it's very difficult to play with ten men for a long time against an opponent of this level," said Flick.
He noted that the team showed positive actions at certain moments, but they could not change the overall picture.
"There were some good moments, but they were few. We often lost the ball, and even in the simplest passes, there were many errors. We need to seriously analyze these aspects. I don't remember exactly how long we played with one player down, but it was a very long time," the coach said.
According to Flick, the team will still try to enter the top eight in the Champions League, but it will not be easy:
"It's very difficult to get into the top eight, but we will fight to the end."
Barcelona will now try to rectify the mistakes and restore team play by the next round. Fans are waiting for Flick's team to recover.
