Modric: Any club after "Real" is a step back

After 13 years playing for Real Madrid, midfielder Luka Modric recently moved to Serie A club AC Milan. The 40-year-old Croatian footballer shared his thoughts about joining his new team.

“I have always said: no matter which team you go to after Real, it signifies a step back. There is no doubt about it, and all players can confirm this.

However, I believe I have joined a team that is close to Real's historic significance and reputation. For me, it was the perfect choice, especially since I have always loved Milan. I grew up in Italian football.

AC Milan was my most admired club since childhood. When this opportunity arose, I immediately realized it was the right decision. The city is amazing. I was welcomed in an incredible way, both inside and outside the club.

The team members, coaches, and fans – everything here is at the highest level. You can feel at every step that Milan is one of the biggest clubs in the world.

I am genuinely happy and delighted to be here,” Modric said in an interview with Arena Sport. Currently, AC Milan is ranked second in the Serie A standings.
