Former German national team footballer Michael Ballack commented on Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer's mistake during the Champions League group stage's fifth round match against Arsenal (1-3). The Bayern goalkeeper attempted to stop Arsenal's counter-attack by venturing out of the penalty area, near the center of the pitch.
However, Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli capitalized on the situation, sending the ball past Neuer and into the net. "There was no need to do that.
Manuel made the wrong decision. If he chooses to come out for the ball, he must secure it, and he knows that very well himself.
He decided to take a risk and was punished for his mistake," Ballack said in an interview with Goal. In the next round of the Champions League, Bayern Munich will face Lisbon's Sporting.
