Manuel Neuer to miss DFB-Pokal final: Decision made

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will miss Saturday's DFB-Pokal final against VfB Stuttgart due to a calf muscle injury. The Munich club officially confirmed on Friday morning that Neuer will travel to Berlin to support the team but is not yet fit to play. This is reported by Goal.com reports .

According to Sky, Manuel Neuer's recovery is progressing positively, but a minor risk remains. The 40-year-old goalkeeper decided not to risk his health ahead of the World Cup. He is expected to start as Germany's first-choice goalkeeper in the upcoming tournament.

Jonas Urbig will replace him in the final. For the 22-year-old backup goalkeeper, this will be his 20th appearance this season and the most important match of his career. Head coach Vincent Kompany's squad also includes Sven Ulreich and Jannis Bärtl.

Neuer was sidelined in December, February, and March this season due to muscle tears. He was substituted as a precaution during the 5-1 Bundesliga final-day victory over 1. FC Köln. Nevertheless, the experienced goalkeeper extended his contract with the club until 2027 last Sunday.

On Thursday, coach Nagelsmann included him in Germany's extended squad for the World Cup in North America. The national team will begin its preparation process on Wednesday in Herzogenaurach.
