In the 14th round of the Spanish championship, Real Madrid dropped points again. Xabi Alonso's team drew for the third time in a row, playing away against Girona in Catalonia. The home team opened the scoring with a beautiful shot at the end of the second, while Real Madrid responded with a penalty from Mbappé.
Counter-attacks, sharp moments, high tempo, and determination were enough in the match, but the victory for Real Madrid didn't materialize again. Two points lost in Catalonia deprived Madrid of the tournament lead - the team remained in second place with 33 points. Barcelona currently holds the top spot with 34 points. Girona, meanwhile, are among the teams with a difficult start to the season - they are in 18th place with 12 points.
The match took place at the Monteville Stadium on November 30th. One of the most striking moments of the match was Ounahi's long-range punch at the end of the first half. In the second half, Mbappe leveled the score from a penalty.
Although Real Madrid had many options, it was clear they couldn't change the game's rhythm. The Catalan club also showed serious resistance, playing an especially important role in deflecting several dangerous shots from goalkeeper Gassani.
