Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta openly expressed his disappointment and pride in his team after the draw in the London derby. The game at Stamford Bridge was not easy for the Premier League leader - Chelsea lost one player at the end of the first half, but continued to show competitive play.
In a post-fight interview, Arteta noted that the game dynamics were very restless and fragmented:
"From the very beginning, it was possible to feel what difficult conditions the opponent was playing in. In every duel, in every action under pressure, maximum effort was expended. We expected a different scenario against the remaining 10 players, but everything didn't go according to plan," said the Spanish manager.
According to him, Arsenal had prepared a clear tactical plan for the second half, but a goal from an opponent's free-kick completely changed the situation. In the following minutes, the game became difficult, the pressure increased, and it wasn't easy to restore the necessary tempo.
At the same time, Arteta did not hide her satisfaction with the stubborn actions of her players:
"If you can't beat an opponent with one player down for 45 minutes, you'll definitely feel nauseous. But we mustn't forget how our entire week went. The team worked hard and prepared diligently. It was a very difficult week, both mentally and physically, but nevertheless, we created synergy," he said.
Arteta emphasized that the players are in good spirits and the team is further strengthening its internal unity. In his opinion, although this draw was an "economic" result, the overall picture of the week was positive.
This match was another test for Arsenal, demonstrating the team's willpower, preparation, and character for Arteta. Now, the Gunners aim to continue their preparations for the next stages of the season in this spirit.
