Messi believes in the game, not in the numbers about himself

In the world of football, numbers, records, and statistics are often put first. But according to the legend of world football, Lionel Messi, the true meaning of football is not only in numbers - it is in the game itself. The Argentinian national team and Inter Miami leader openly discussed his attitude towards statistics in an interview with ESPN.

According to Messi, public and media attention is currently tied to every goal, every pass, or every record. He says that such an approach doesn't suit him: "I don't like clinging to statistics. If I score a goal or give an assist - that's natural. But I don't live by the idea that I absolutely have to go out and break some record. "I am interested in football itself, the attention paid to the game, and the feeling of bringing benefit to the team," he noted.

Messi also adds that his greatest value is playing an important role in the team, being a leader when needed, and entering every match wholeheartedly: "I don't chase after statistics. For me, this is neither a goal nor motivation. Football is my life, my passion. I respect that."

However, the numbers still speak for themselves: this season, Messi has made 33 appearances for Inter Miami in the MLS, scoring 35 goals and providing 21 assists - impressive figures. His performance during the season led Inter Miami to a playoff final.

As a reminder, Messi and his teammates will face Vancouver Whitecaps in the final of the MLS playoffs at 00:30 Tashkent time on the night of December 6th to 7th. The fans are eagerly awaiting his performance in this final.
