Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso provided detailed explanations at a press conference regarding the team's right-wing defense. His answers aroused both interest and unexpected thoughts among the fans.
The specialist was first asked if we could see Federico Valverde once again on the right side of the defense. Alonso emphasized the need for a serious approach to this issue and stated that the decision would be made based on the overall situation.
"We also have other tactical options. Fede always puts the team's interests first. He proved himself reliable in this position as well. However, we have other plans - we will determine everything before tomorrow's game," the coach said.
In response to a question about Valverde's play on the right wing, Alonso recalled that the athlete showed top-level skill in some important matches:
"Against Juventus, at El Clásico - he played at a very high level in those matches. Of course, we know his natural position, but Fede will do everything he can to help the team. He deeply feels the spirit and principles of the club."
The question of Militao playing as a right-back was also addressed. Alonso did not deny this possibility:
"This is also one of the options that will be considered. We will make a decision based on the conditions of the central defense. Militao has gained good experience in this position for the Brazilian national team. Wherever he is needed - he can play confidently."
