Xabi Alonso strongly protests referee decisions

In the 15th round of La Liga, Real Madrid hosted Celta Vigo at home and suffered an unexpected defeat. Following the match, Real Madrid's head coach Xabi Alonso voiced strong dissatisfaction with the refereeing decisions.

According to Alonso, the main referee failed to pay attention to several critical moments during the match and did not manage the game's flow properly.

“A number of the referee's decisions were completely unsatisfactory. What puzzled me most was his total lack of response to time-wasting situations. He couldn’t control the pace of the game and acted recklessly in certain moments.

The sending off of Carreras was also highly controversial — this decision significantly disrupted our team’s rhythm. Frankly speaking, today’s refereeing quality was far below what I expected,” said the coach.

The situation became more challenging for Real Madrid during the match: at the start of the second half, Fran Garcia received two consecutive warnings within a minute and left the field. Subsequently, Alvaro Carreras exacerbated the situation by receiving both yellow and red cards during a dispute, further reducing the team’s lineup.

As a result, in what turned out to be a particularly tough game, Real Madrid suffered a 0–2 defeat and was forced to drop points in the round.
