Barcelona player Jules Koundé has expressed his readiness to replace Ronald Araújo. The Uruguayan central defender faced psychological challenges after receiving a red card during the match against Chelsea (0–3).
The club has allowed him time off to recuperate mentally. According to journalist Helena Condis, head coach Hans-Dieter Flick discussed this matter with Koundé.
During their conversation, the French footballer informed the coach of his desire to return to the central defense position and fill Araújo's role. It is worth noting that Jules Koundé was shifted to a right-back position under Xavi Hernández.
Initially, this unconventional role was not favorable to the central defender, but he eventually adapted to the decision. The issue lies in the fact that the Blaugrana's head coach prefers a left-footed defender in a pairing with Pau Cubars, whereas Koundé is a right-footed player.
