The World Championship for men has reached an intense stage in Dubai, the vibrant city of the United Arab Emirates, filled with charm and a spirit of sportsmanship. On the fourth day of the competition, seven of our compatriots entered the ring and, despite external factors, defended the honor of the nation with dignity. Each fight was dramatic, emotional, and held immense responsibility for the outcome.
Among these, special mention must be made of Arman Maxanov’s fight in the +92 kg category, representing our country. The anticipated and intense clash with Belarusian contender Uladzislau Smiahlikau ended unexpectedly in the first round. From the opening moments, both boxers exchanged active assaults, with powerful and accurate strikes. However, when Uladzislau sustained a cut near his eyebrow, the medical staff prioritized his health and did not permit the fight to continue.
Although the fight was halted due to technical reasons, the points accumulated up to that moment showed Maxanov’s clear dominance. As a result, the victory was officially awarded to Arman, and he successfully secured a ticket to the next stage.
Now, our compatriot faces a very serious opponent — Cuba's Arzola Lopez. Cuban boxing has always been renowned for its discipline, school, and high-level technical preparation. Hence, the next fight is sure to be fascinating not only for spectators but also for specialists.
Meanwhile, the day will continue with another important bout: Shodiyorjon Meliqoziev is set to face Kyrgyzstan’s Anvarzhan Khodzhiev in the ring. The intensity and outcome of this match will also influence our team’s overall tournament strategy.
Every step, every strike, and every victory in the World Championship carries its weight. Maxanov’s confident performance and stability in the fight once again confirm his recognition as a serious contender in the tournament. The upcoming stages, undoubtedly, will be more challenging and demanding.
