Rooney Recalls Ferguson's Unusual Instruction Against Pirlo

Former Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney recalled how Sir Alex Ferguson prepared the team for their match against AC Milan. Rooney mentioned that the Scottish manager took the threat of Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo very seriously and assigned Park Ji-sung to tightly mark the Italian player.

“I clearly remember Ferguson's instructions before the game against Milan. He told Park, word for word: ‘Today your job is not to play with the ball, not to pass.

Your job is Pirlo. Just Pirlo,’” Rooney was quoted as saying by Man United Media.
