Former head coach of "Akhmat," Sergey Tashuyev, commented on Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov's chances of securing a spot in the starting lineup at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). "Matvey needs to prove himself again.
He has taken the first step on the path to becoming PSG's main goalkeeper. He needs to work even harder, and I believe Safonov will not face any problems in this regard," Tashuyev was quoted as saying by "Championship" media outlet.
The team's primary goalkeeper, Lucas Chevalier, sustained an injury, which allowed Safonov to take the field in the last three matches. He defended PSG's goal in games against Rennes (5-0), Athletic Bilbao (0-0), and Metz (3-2).
It should be noted that Safonov transferred from the Russian club Krasnodar to the French team PSG during the summer of 2024.
