Newcastle's central defender Dan Burn suffered a serious injury on December 14 during the match against Sunderland (0–1). Burn was substituted near the end of the first half after a rough collision with an opponent.
After the match, Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe stated that the defender was experiencing difficulty breathing and had been sent to the hospital. According to The Daily Mail, Burn was diagnosed with a rib fracture.
He will miss the next few weeks. This season, the English footballer has played 22 matches in all competitions, scoring 1 goal and providing 3 assists.
