Russian football expert Vladimir Mansev shared his thoughts on the current situation and future prospects of Uzbekistan national team and Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov. Although the expert's assessment is quite sharp, he cited high demand and competition in the English grant as the main factor.
Mansev emphasized that Khusanov is a naturally talented defender, but currently, Manchester City is not fully suited to him. According to the expert, the player achieved certain successes during his time at Lens, but after Pep Guardiola's arrival, the pressure shifted to a completely different level.
- The requirements for each player at City are very high. Guardiola tried him out as a central defender, but Khusanov hasn't yet proven himself in this position. It was also tested in the wing defense, but there was a lack of creativity in previous actions," says Mantsev.
The expert does not deny Khusanov's physical performance. According to him, there is speed, which can also be seen in the episodes against Vinicius. But at Manchester City's level, speed alone isn't enough.
- This team has players who "play with their heads," that is, quickly think on the field, read the situation in advance. Khusanov currently lacks this component," the expert added.
Mantsev expressed his opinion even more openly, saying that he even considered classifying Khusanov as "average" or "untalented." At the same time, he admitted that these words caused a negative reaction among many Uzbek fans.
- My close friend is a citizen of Uzbekistan, so if I put him in the category of "untalented," all Uzbeks will oppose me. And indeed, they are ready to "scatter" me. But my personal opinion is that I'm more inclined to think "without talent." Friends, everything will be alright. "But, unfortunately, he falls into the category of 'untalented,'" said Mantsev.
At the same time, the expert emphasized that the situation is not bad at all, but he did not hide the fact that the level of "City" for Khusanov is very high.
As a reminder, Abdukodir Khusanov joined Manchester City from French club Lens in January of this year. This season, he made a total of 8 appearances for the "Citizens." Fans are still waiting for the young defender to grow through time and patience.
