The Portuguese coach emphasized that such a scoreline is far from satisfactory. According to him, the team is deeply disappointed about letting the victory slip away.
— This is absolutely an unsatisfactory result. We are deeply hurt. The match was entertaining, but winning such games is essential. Many might think we lost two points in the second half, but I believe we had already squandered them in the first half, — said Amorim.
The head coach noted that Manchester United dominated the game and created numerous dangerous chances in front of the opponent's goal, but failed to capitalize on them.
— We could have gone into halftime with a completely different scoreline. In the end, the team deserved more from the match. For fans watching on TV, the game was undoubtedly very exciting, — he added.
Amorim also commented on the fans gathered at Old Trafford. According to him, the fans not only expect victories but also want to see beautiful and attacking football on the pitch.
— Fans expect wins, which is natural. But they also want to see the team play meaningful and enjoyable football. At certain moments, we achieved this, — said the coach.
At the same time, he acknowledged that one of the team's main issues is efficiency. Despite creating a high number of opportunities, the results did not reflect that.
— The game wasn’t bad, but we must improve our efficiency. We are creating many chances but are struggling to convert them, — stated Amorim.
The coach also highlighted the performance of goalkeeper Lammens, stressing that such games are a natural part of the team's development process.
— This result is part of the process. We are trying to do the right things to the best of our ability. Sometimes, it’s still not enough, but we will not deviate from our path, — concluded the Manchester United head coach.
