Barcelona president Joan Laporta has once again made a statement regarding the Negreira case. He emphasized that the rumors surrounding the club were deliberately aimed at damaging the reputation of the Catalan team.
Laporta reiterated that Barcelona has never sought to gain a competitive advantage by influencing referees. According to him, the club has never engaged in activities aimed at controlling or manipulating competition results.
“The club has never undertaken any actions to influence competitions or gain an advantage. Clearly, this is a premeditated campaign intended to harm the club’s reputation,” Cadena SER quoted Laporta as saying.
The club president stated that the legal process is being used as a tool for pressure and defamation, with the aim of casting doubt on one of the most successful periods in the team's history. Laporta emphasized that the achievements of those years were the result of quality football and victories on the field, unrelated to external factors.
