Inter loses to Bologna in penalties in Italian Super Cup

The second semifinal match of the Italian Super Cup between Bologna and Inter could not determine a winner after nearly 120 minutes of intense play. The regular time ended 1-1, but Bologna secured a 3-2 victory in the penalty shootout.

Inter opened the scoring in the 2nd minute. Alessandro Bastoni intercepted the ball in the center and rapidly advanced the attack, delivering a pass to Marcus Thuram, who met it with a precise strike, sending the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal — 0-1.

Bologna made several attempts to equalize. Jens Odgaard broke in from the left wing into the penalty area, delivering a low cross to the center.

The ball deflected off Stefano de Vrij's foot, altering its direction, but the goalkeeper managed to neutralize the near-post threat. In the 35th minute, Bologna tied the score.

Riccardo Orsolini sent a penalty kick straight down the middle, while the goalkeeper dived towards a corner — 1-1. In the second half, Inter continued to press actively on the left flank.

Federico Dimarco created several opportunities: first, his shot deflected off a defender and narrowly missed the post. Then, he struck a pass delivered to the left edge of the penalty area with a single touch toward the far corner, but the goalkeeper dived to save it.

Inter came close to regaining the lead. Lautaro Martínez broke into the penalty area from the right side and fired a powerful shot at the near post, but the goalkeeper deflected the ball out for a corner.

Dimarco's next attempt, a shot threading through defenders from the edge of the penalty area, also went just wide of the post. After regular time ended 1-1, the winner was decided by penalty kicks.

In the penalty shootout, Bologna players prevailed 3-2 and advanced to the final. Bologna will face Napoli in the final on Monday.
