Theo Hernandez says 0–5 defeat was a turning point for Milan

Former defender of the Italian club AC Milan, Theo Hernandez, recalled the most pivotal turning point during the club's journey to the 2022 championship title. According to him, this turning point occurred nearly two and a half months after Stefano Pioli took over the team in October 2019.

On December 22, 2019, AC Milan suffered a 0-5 defeat against Atalanta in Serie A. Hernandez noted that this particular match served as a catalyst for the team's subsequent successes.

"He was very down after that loss. As a team, we felt ashamed in front of him.

I still remember his composed yet deeply thought-provoking speech. In my opinion, the 2022 Scudetto was born right after that match.

After that blow, we became more united, turning into a real family," Hernandez told *La Gazzetta dello Sport*. Theo Hernandez is now playing in Saudi Arabia.
