Lingard Shares Cultural Habit in South Korea That Surprised Him

In 2024, English footballer Jesse Lingard made a bold decision to leave England and venture into the South Korean league, a move considered unusual for European players. He shared that many aspects of adapting to a new culture surprised him.

According to Lingard, one of the most interesting experiences was related to dining traditions with Koreans. The footballer explained that they usually wait for an older person to start eating, but in his case, being a foreign guest, everyone would wait for him to make the first move.

"They always wait for the oldest person, or in this situation, a foreigner like me, to begin eating. For example, if the food is served to them but not yet to me, they will wait until a plate is placed in front of me before starting.
