Chelsea defender and captain Reece James shared his thoughts after a 1–2 home defeat to Aston Villa in the Premier League. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.
The Birmingham club showed resilience and snatched the win: Ollie Watkins struck accurately in the 63rd and 84th minutes to turn the score. Chelsea’s only goal was scored by Joao Pedro in the 37th minute.
“Losing at home always hurts. For the first 60–65 minutes we were on top. For an hour Aston Villa had almost no dangerous moments, then they increased the tempo and the game changed after that. One or two episodes shifted the direction of the whole match. Perhaps their substitutes made the difference, but it wasn’t something unbeatable. The blame is on us — we were punished for our mistakes. This is the strongest league in the world,” James told Sky Sports.
Enzo Maresca’s side will host Bournemouth on 30 December.
