Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery commented on his team’s performance after a 2–1 win over Chelsea. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.
In the London clash, the Villans produced a spirited comeback: João Pedro opened the scoring in the 37th minute, but in the second half Ollie Watkins struck in the 63rd and 84th minutes to complete a brace.
“The plan for the first half stayed the same, but until the break Chelsea played fantastically and dominated. It was very difficult for us to win the ball back. Before the second half I told the players exactly that: we need to show desire and keep our resilience,” Emery told BBC Match of the Day.
Aston Villa have now won 11 consecutive matches in all competitions. After 18 Premier League rounds, the Birmingham club sit third: three points behind Arsenal and one behind Manchester City.
