After Enzo Maresca’s resignation, Chelsea are not looking to waste time. According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, the London club plan to appoint a new head coach in the coming days and the process won’t drag on. The club intend to formalize an agreement with a new specialist within a short timeframe.
According to Romano, the current leading favorite is Strasbourg head coach Liam Rosenshr. In other words, the club are not searching for a “new superstar name”, but are leaning more toward options that can work and build a system.
At the same time, the shortlist is not limited to just one name. Sources say paths such as Glasner and Fabregas have already taken clear shape as well. But there is an important “however” here.
Oliver Glasner will not leave Crystal Palace right now. He could only depart in the summer, so Chelsea reportedly cannot use this option as a quick decision.
Cesc Fabregas is fully immersed in his project at Como. He doesn’t seem inclined to abandon his plans halfway through — meaning this name is still in doubt for now.
Most interestingly, the club are not considering a “mega-star manager” scenario at all. As Romano noted, Zidane, Klopp and Mourinho are not on the list. In short, this time Chelsea are choosing a fast, practical solution rather than hype.
