Nathan Aké: “I dream of playing, but I wait patiently”

Manchester City and Netherlands defender Nathan Aké shared his thoughts on his playing time this season, the competition, and his chances of making it to the 2026 World Cup. Aké noted that Ronald Koeman would like to play him more often.
According to him, “Koeman has said several times that he wants me to play more. If I don’t get many minutes, it will be difficult for me to keep my place in the national team — that’s clear. Every footballer wants to play more, but the team is doing well and the players in my position are also in great form. I will keep waiting patiently for opportunities to come,” Nathan Aké told Manchester Evening News.
The 30-year-old has started only three Premier League matches this season. Reports say Manchester City plan to keep him until the end of the season, but a move in the winter transfer window is also possible. The Netherlands head coach is closely monitoring Aké’s situation as well.
This situation highlights how important decisions about Nathan Aké’s future playing time and role in the team are.
