Igor Sergeev leaves Pakhtakor: writes a farewell letter

Igor Sergeev, who is moving from Pakhtakor to Iran’s Persepolis, sent the “Lions” a heartfelt farewell letter. The striker, who spent many years wearing the Tashkent club’s shirt, emphasized that the team was not just a workplace for him, but a true home.

In his letter, Sergeev said that the memories and emotions connected with Pakhtakor are very dear to him:

“I have played for this team since childhood. This club was my home, it still is, and it will remain so in the future. Thank you to the team and the fans — it was more than football,” the letter says.

These words were especially moving for fans: a lot changes in football, but the phrase “my home” always sounds different.

Earlier, Iranian media reported that Sergeev had signed a preliminary contract with Persepolis. That means a new chapter is opening in the striker’s career: a new league, a new environment, new challenges.

In short, Sergeev is leaving, but Pakhtakor stays with him — and that is the most important thing in any farewell.
