Glasner to leave after the season as a new era begins at Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner has openly said he will leave the team once the current season ends. The 51-year-old Austrian did not hide the main reason either: months ago he told the club’s board that he was looking for a new challenge.

“A few months ago I told the club I wanted a different challenge,” Glasner stressed. It was also reported that, because of this stance, he has not yet signed the new contract being offered by the club.

Glasner has been in charge of Palace since February 2024. It is noted that under his leadership the London side won the FA Cup and the Community Shield. He also has a major European achievement in his coaching career — he lifted the Europa League trophy with Eintracht Frankfurt.

As for the team’s current situation, Crystal Palace sit 13th in the Premier League with 28 points after 21 matches. The results are close to being consistent, but inside the club there is a clear sense that new plans and fresh energy are needed for next season.

Notably, the noise around Glasner has not died down: earlier reports claimed Manchester United were interested in him. If that interest turns into real talks, this could become one of the most intriguing coaching storylines in Europe this summer.

In short, the second half of the season is even more important for Palace fans: can the team deliver, what mark will Glasner leave before departing, and who will lead the club into a new era — those are the key questions.
