Samarkand’s Dinamo, working to further strengthen the squad ahead of the 2026 season, have completed another foreign signing. According to the club’s press service, Dinamo reached an agreement with Uruguayan defender Mauro Brazil and signed a one-year contract with the player.
The 26-year-old centre-back has joined the team, which is currently holding a training camp in Dubai. This move is no coincidence: Dinamo understand that next season’s targets will be bigger and competition tougher, and they aim to build quality depth in the squad.
Mauro Brazil’s last club was Cerro Largo, who compete in the Uruguayan league. The fact that the club finished 5th in the 2025 Clausura also shows the player has been playing regularly in a competitive environment. Therefore, Dinamo are expected to field him as a match-ready, experienced defender.
Mauro has featured not only at club level but also within the national-team system. He previously made 10 appearances for Uruguay’s U20 side. Most notably, he was also called up to the Uruguay senior national team and made his debut in 2024 against Costa Rica (0–0). It is noted that Brazil played at centre-back in that match.
This transfer is also significant in the club’s history: Mauro Brazil has become the first Uruguayan footballer in Dinamo’s history. That means not just a new foreign player, but new experience and a new football school. Fans will now be keen to see how he adapts in Samarkand, how much stability he brings to the back line, and how he contributes to Dinamo’s goals in the new season.
