FIFA rankings updated: Uzbekistan drops two places

On January 19, FIFA released the latest updated edition of its national team rankings. Uzbekistan’s national team dropped two places to 52nd.

Even so, the “White Wolves” remain close to the leading pack within the Asian Football Confederation: in the new ranking, Uzbekistan sits 5th in the AFC. There is no change at the top in Asia — Japan are still number one. The “Land of the Rising Sun” representatives are listed 19th in the overall ranking.

The update was also influenced by the Africa Cup of Nations results. Morocco, who reached the final, climbed to 8th place. Senegal made a major leap after winning — up seven spots to 12th. These results once again proved how fierce competition is in African football.

In the updated ranking, the world football giants’ TOP 10 looks like this:

1. Spain

2. Argentina

3. France

4. England

5. Brazil

6. Portugal

7. Netherlands

8. Morocco

9. Belgium

10. Germany

In short, although Uzbekistan dropped two places, they are still near the top tier in Asia. The key now is to collect points in upcoming matches and quickly make up for the ranking loss. Fans, as always, are waiting for one thing: character on the pitch and progress in the results.
