Arsenal became the first team to secure a place in the Champions League Round of 16

London's Arsenal became the fastest-scoring team in the 2025/2026 Champions League season. The Gunners officially guaranteed their next victory in the general stage to reach the Round of 16, becoming the first to achieve this result.
In the 7th round of the general stage, Mikel Arteta's team played away against Inter Milan. In a game considered one of the central matches, the Londoners demonstrated their own confidence and sharpness, winning 3-1.
Arsenal's main character in the match was Gabriel Jesus: the Brazilian striker scored a brace, putting his team ahead. Another goal was scored by Viktor Gokeresh, who came off the bench not to kill time, but to "seal" the result. Inter's only return goal was scored by Petar Sucic, but even this goal didn't change the outcome of the game.
After this victory, Arsenal scored 21 points in seven games and became the sole leader in the overall standings, with 36 teams participating. Most importantly, there are no concerns left for the London club: the gap between 9th and 24th place, the playoff zone (1/16 finals), and Arsenal has reached nine points. Meanwhile, the majority of participants in the general stage still have one or two meetings left.
In short, Arsenal isn't in the mood to "just participate" in this season's Champions League. For now, both on the schedule and on the field, they are telling everyone: the road is open, we came first.
